Healthy Snacks

Snacks. Enough said, everybody loves to snack and has their guilty pleasures. My guilty pleasure would have to Hot Cheetos. I know, but I don’t eat them often…..and I believe in balance within your life. Anyways, one of my favorite healthy snacks and go to when I want a snack is Trail Mix. You can find all different types of blends and it will keep you satisfied. When choosing a trail mix, try to pick one that has at least 3 different types of nuts, and mixed with dried fruit. The one I typically get has almonds, cashews, peanuts, cranberries, and raisins. You can make your own trail blends as well! My favorite blend to make is almonds, cashews, walnuts, and cranberries.  The ones with chocolate, yogurt chips, or m&ms usually are filled with the candies and the nuts are usually just peanuts so try to stay away from those ones as there are less health benefits.

So why is this such a great snack?

Well, there are actual benefits to this stuff. Protein and those good fats we all try to get from avocados, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, can be found in the nuts. They are also great a source of fiber and vitamins. Trail mix is great to have on hand and will keep you going when you need a quick energy boost.
