Turmeric & Coconut Oatmeal

TURMERIC. Seriously the ultimate spice. If you aren’t familiar with turmeric then you have been slipping….It’s okay, I’ve only recently learned of its nutritional and healing properties. Turmeric, whether it is in it’s powdered form or raw root form can be extremely beneficial. Some of the properties within this powerful little guy are anti-inflammatory, boosts immune system, improves cognitive function, acts as an anti-depressant, and can lower your risk of heart disease. That was enough for me to start adding this into my weekly routines and eating habits. The Things That Make Magic:

  • Whole oats
  • Coconut milk
  • Honey
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Coconut flakes
  • Salt
  • Fresh berries

How To Make Magic:

  1. Cook oatmeal according to package directions over the stovetop just substitute the water it says to use for coconut milk.
  2. When you add the oats, also add the turmeric (start with less, turmeric is a powerful and strong spice if you haven’t had it before.), cinnamon to taste, & salt (a pinch)
  3. Stir occasionally until cooked, drizzle in honey and stir.
  4. Serve with fresh berries, coconut flakes, & a dusting of turmeric powder.
